Who we are as a non-profit organization & Volunteer Opportunities

The Wardrobe is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. 2020 marks our 50th anniversary. If you are interested in volunteering, please come to The Wardrobe and fill out a volunteer application and we will discuss what days and times work for you. Your church might already have a volunteer group at The Wardrobe.  If so, let your group leader know you want to get on the Wardrobe volunteer list.

Shoe Coupons

The main project of The Wardrobe is to help buy new shoes for children enrolled in Boone County Public Schools pre-K-12 that have a current referral to The Wardrobe.   The parent/guardian of the child can purchase a shoe coupon for $5.00 (cash only). This coupon can then be redeemed at Shoe Carnival for a pair of shoes costing up to $50.00. One coupon per child can be purchased every six months. The coupons are sold each Tuesday (11:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.) at The Wardrobe.  The parent/guardian of the child must provide a valid ID at check in.

Check with local social services agencies (such as the Voluntary Action Center), local churches, home/school coordinators and other like agencies to get more information for obtaining a referral to The Wardrobe. Monetary donations, gifts, grants and profits from sales are used to fund this program.
